DesignSelect is proud to present its First Guest Artist.

- Ryan has studied Studio Art and Art History at the University of Edinboro, PA and the University of Pittsburgh, PA, earning his BFA in 2002. Throughout his schooling and for the past four years, he has worked in the custom framing shops and art galleries in the greater Pittsburgh area. He has also taught classes at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts: "Custom Framing and Mat Cutting" and "Abstract Painting". He is currently working at the Trésor Gallery in Shadyside and is always looking for more opportunities to show his latest work. Contact:r.benedict@hotmail.com.

The Artist on his work:

- My artwork is primarily an abstracted view of the best and worst times of my life. I've experimented with many different styles and have come to the conclusion that through calculated color theory, I can express the deepest realism through abstract artwork. True feelings are extremely important for an artist to portray and I believe that through symbolism and colors, one can really leave an impression on the average viewer. Some paintings truly move me, and I strive to create artwork that will truly move others.
